Alternative Energy For Home
What are the Alternative Energy Sources for Home
Carbon Dioxide produced by the whole world is released into the earth’s atmosphere every day, which is going to stay there for another hundred years. This Co2 increases the temperature of our plant and plays a vital role in ‘Global Warming’. One of the easiest ways to fight with this problem is, by the use of alternative energy for home. The term alternative energy refers to the use of those sources of energy which have no undesired consequences on our earth and its atmosphere. The alternative sources of energy are free and renewable, hence the chances of their depletion is minimized. The greatest positive fact with these sources is that they have lower carbon emissions, in comparison to the other conventional sources of energy.
Alternative Energy Sources for home are:
1) Solar Panel Installation
Most of the energy in any country comes from the conventional sources. The home owners are not aware of the fact that how useful and beneficial the alternative can be. People do not realize that the electric company can get its electricity from the renewable sources also. Depending on their area people can request for a greater percentage of green energy from their power companies or else try to install the solar panel systems in their houses.
2) Biomass
After hydropower, biomass is the second best energy source which can be used by any nation. In this case power is derived by the burning of wood wastes from the industries and farming sector. There are many small scale residential bio-mass stoves which are available in the market and can be used by the house owner easily. The house demand of gas and electricity can be reduced by lowering of the thermostat.
3) Geothermal
In geothermal energy, the natural heat of the underground earth is used to heat the water reserves. This in turn powers the turbines and which are used to produce electricity through the generators. House owners can make a group geothermal wells that collect the ground heat and it is transferred through pipes to the homes. Geothermal heating is less expensive than the natural gas heating processes.
4) Wind
Wind turbines are large propellers on the stilts, wherein the wind turns the blades and is used to spin a generator. Wind turbines can be installed in the Plain states which have strongest and powerful wind waves. It can be also used in the rural or the suburban areas, as since about an acre of land is required for their operation.
5) Purchasing Green Power
Home owners should try to compel their power utility company for green power and only purchase the renewable power sources. Green power is the power which is being derived from the renewable sources like wind, water or sun’s heat. Confirm with your power companies as to how you can purchase Green Power from them and save your planet and electricity at the same time. For every one kilowatt of traditional energy replaced by Green Power can save one pound of carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere.
These are the few basic steps which the house owners can take and help in the conservation of their planet. The alternative energy sources mentioned above can be taken as their starting step in this regard.
